I need to rant on something... Public Schools!!! I am so glad I graduated in the late 80's and not the late 00's. What would we have done if we had to stay on school grounds for lunch.? I would have gone absolutely crazy! No security guards watching out every move. Now I go to my kids HS and the security guard immediately asks, "Can I help You?" Well, no,,,,, ! Why would I need their help? I am going to the counseling office. I feel where much trust is given, responsibility will follow. I mean, if I decided to ditch class back in the old days, I simply had to pay the price of figuring out what i missed. It was not going to be an in school suspension the first time, nor the third.
Ok, my sons HS is having their prom on May 30th. This is NINE days after he gets OUT of school. He is a senior so they get out earlier... why is that???? So, I just found out that his prom is on the same day as the preplanned graduation party I had planned. I didnt think I had to confer regarding the prom. I figured Prom would have been before school got out. Is this crazy...? Someone tell me. Am I the only one that can not believe that a school would have the senior prom,,, AFTER school is over??? I am told crazy reasons, but am also advised I am the only one that has said anything. Well, i have family coming from all over the country to attent this grad party and graduation ceremony. I planned the party for the Sat before the grad on Tues. Which of course I got in big trouble from my sis in law who also chose the same Sat. in May for her daughters open house. I thought it would be great,,, this way all family could attend both in one day. But no,, I was told, "We all talked about the dates and this is what we came up with." Who is we??? Not I!!! If someone has actually talked with "I" we wouldnt have had this mess. I was asked to pick the next weekend. Ok, so if i pick the next weekend, my mother and father in law will be out of state, and all the other people that came for sis in laws open house, have to come back for ours. Sounds silly. So, i stuck to my guns, and said I will keep our date.
Now I am told she wont be able to attend our party. Thank goodness I have my mom and dad, and sister and brother, and sister in law to help at my party while I go to the sister in laws party. Sounds confusing... I am sorry... just crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is simple SWWM.....change your party to Sunday afternoon. You will have a butt load of help getting ready on Saturday...you can run off to church on Sunday morning and we can get it all set up for an afternoon party! Come on, it will be so much better...all of Sam's friends who are going to Prom won't have to run off, there is no school on Monday that they couldn't stay as late as they (or you) wanted, and then there is no conflict with your sister in law!! AND less stress for you!!
